DSHS TIA Project Management Office Senior Manager

The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Technology Innovation Administration (TIA), Technology Services Division (TSD) is looking for a Project Management Office Senior Manager to help in strategic planning, tactical operations and personnel management. Within TIA, you will be supporting the Office of Secretary (OOS), Facilities Finance and Analytics Administration (FFA), and also DSHS agency wide projects.

You'll directly manage the Project Management Office (PMO) consisting of eleven highly-skilled IT project management and business analyst professionals ranging in expertise from journey level to senior level, which includes supervising two IT managers.

You'll also serve as a key member of the TSD Director's Leadership Team and support the agency's mission of Transforming Lives by advancing collaborative IT projects.

Some of What You'll Do
  • Direct the daily work of the TIA Project Management Office (PMO) supporting DSHS/OOS/FFA.
  • Develop and implement the overall methodology and governance for IT project management and business analysis within DSHS OOS/FFA.
  • Participate in the development, execution and communication of the TIA strategic plan.
  • Direct the evaluation of emerging or alternate IT project management methodologies to identify where changes in current practices are recommended in order to increase the effectiveness and timeliness of services.
  • Prioritize and assign tasks to PMO staff. Ensures that PMO-assigned tasks are addressed appropriately and timely.
Who We Want in This Role
Knowledge
Bachelor's Degree including 9 semester or 15 quarter hours of computer science courses and five years consultative, administrative or supervisory experience in information technology project management.
OR
Associate's Degree or completion of an accredited vocational training program in an information technology or related program and seven years consultative, administrative or supervisory experience in information technology project management.
OR 
Nine years in an IT position classified by WA State as "Professional/Technical" within the Primary Job Family of "IT Project Management" at the
"Journey" level or higher.
OR 
Nine years in a position equivalent to an IT position classified by WA State as "Professional/Technical" within the Primary Job Family of "IT Project Management" at the "Journey" level or higher.
AND 
A minimum of five years of progressive IT management experience, including three years of experience directly supervising IT personnel.

Consultative, administrative or supervisory experience in information technology project management will substitute for education on the basis of one year of experience for two years of education.

A Master's degree will substitute for three years of the required experience except for the specified

"Professional/Technical," "IT Project Management" and "Journey" requirement.
